fun board with great paddle power. fair warning: i wouldn’t suggest this board for someone who is just learning to surf because it has a super flat rocker, so you need to get into the wave early or you’ll nose dive. if you’re more experienced, it’s surprisingly able to handle late drops as long as your body is in the right position. overall works best at small/medium sized point breaks and should be the ideal weapon for fighting busy summer crowds. there’s enough rocker in the tail for easy turning ability as long as you step pretty much directly over the fin, maybe 6 inches in front of it. great hold and speed down the line even on tiny waves, the rails lock in well, great stability on all parts of the board. nose is huge and wide so this is ideal for those who are learning to nose ride. visually: the color (i got orange) is really nice and the construction is sturdy, it’s a bit heavier than my previous 9’ epoxy, but i like that because it makes it easier to get into waves when offshore wind is 20+ mph here during east coast winters. every beach i surf locally is rock/boulder bottom, so the epoxy construction makes life so much easier as i don’t have to worry about dings nearly as much as i would swinging around 9 feet of PU. i didn’t use the fin it came with and opted for a 9” flex fin, but the one it comes with feels well made and is a california classic shape. i might switch to it in the summer when the swell drops and more hold down the line could be fun for walking etc. also i’m about 110 lbs 5’ 7” and this is extremely floaty and fast to paddle for me, i would guess at about 185+ lbs and 6+ feet though, the board might start to be a little less well suited, but i’m not positive because i haven't had others try it yet. overall i definitely recommend this for an intermediate surfer looking to progress for a great price!
